A Copa Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration HP-1534CMP performing flight CM-136 from Panama City (Panama) to Mexico City (Mexico), was climbing through FL250 out of Panama when the crew stopped the climb after a single passenger service unit (PSU) opened in flight releasing the passenger oxygen masks for seat row 26DEF. The crew decided to return to Panama City and landed safely on runway 03R about 45 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 80 minutes, then departed again with the PSU taped closed and reached Mexico City with a delay of about 2 hours. In Mexico City the aircraft remained on the ground for about 2.5 hours before departing for the return flight reaching Panama City with a delay of about 3 hours and continued service afterwards.
