On February 7, a passenger on Thai Airways operating flight TG121 between Chiang Mai and Bangkok was arrested after he opened the L1 door and deployed the emergency slide. The aircraft was on the runway and preparing for takeoff. The aircraft stuck on the runway, causing 13 flights to be disrupted. The flight to Bangkok finally departed at 00:35 after a delay of more than three hours.
The 40-year-old Canadian passenger told the police that he’s working as a computer engineer in Vancouver and that he suffered from a panic attack.
